Domo Becomes Founding Member of New ParityPledge to Increase Ethnic Diversity

Company Also Extends Its Pledge Beyond Leadership Positions to Include All Open Roles Across Its Organization

SILICON SLOPES, Utah – July 27, 2020Domo (Nasdaq: Domo) announced today that it is a founding member of the ParityPledge in Support of People of Color, a new pledge that companies can make through Parity.org to accelerate their goals of increasing diversity to strengthen their organizations.

Domo also announced it has extended its commitment to the ParityPledge by applying the pledge’s recruiting principles, designed for leadership roles, to all open positions throughout its organization.

Both moves are designed to help Domo accelerate its goal of becoming a stronger and more diverse organization.

In calling for “Equal Representation, Now,” the ParityPledge in Support of People of Color asks companies to commit to interviewing at least one qualified person of color for every open leadership role VP and higher, including the C-suite and board of directors.

Like the tenets of the ParityPledge for gender diversity, the ParityPledge in Support of People of Color has no hiring quotas or deadlines.

“We are so pleased to have Domo join us in their commitment as a founding member of this pledge,” said Cathrin Stickney, Parity.org founder and CEO. “Our original ParityPledge was created to close the gender gap in business, and we have always believed that equal representation of all groups was key to achieving that.

“But it’s clear that we can—and must—do more for communities of color. I hope that by bringing this simple pledge to the forefront, more companies will be open to changing how they recruit and hire underrepresented executives because we need people of color at the table and in decision-making roles.”

Since taking the original ParityPledge, which was co-founded by Domo CEO Josh James, Domo has increased the percentage of females on its board of directors from zero to 43%.

In 2017, Domo appointed a director of diversity to ensure it was taking the right steps to be a place that truly welcomes and leverages diversity in its organization.

Since then, the company has established unconscious bias trainings with specialty trainings for those in management and leadership positions.

“The original ParityPledge has had a positive impact on us advancing our gender diversity goals while allowing us to focus on attracting and retaining the best talent,” said Josh James, Domo founder and CEO. “We believe that by adopting the ParityPledge for ethnic diversity and applying the recruiting principles to all open positions, we’ll be able to more rapidly achieve meaningful change that makes us a stronger company.”

In its community, Domo supports organizations such as Women Tech Council, and helps support the development of leadership talent through programs such as SheTech, Goals for Girls and those that celebrate women leadership including the Women Tech Awards.

Over the past several years, Domo has worked with organizations such as the Utah Black Chamber of Commerce, Utah Department of Multicultural Affairs and Living Color Utah to build awareness of the opportunities for underrepresented minorities in Utah and at Domo, and to maintain a presence in diverse spaces where top talent can be found.

In addition to the ParityPledge, Domo optimizes the recruitment of diverse talent through minority-focused talent sites such as Jopwell.

The company also recently launched a partnership with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) in the Atlanta University Consortium to expose more Black undergraduate students to tech in Utah through Domo’s student internship program.

Added James: “Diversity extends beyond gender. To truly get to where we want to go, we must build a more diverse pipeline of top talent, expand our networks and continue to place the creation of an inclusive and welcoming culture at the top of our priority list.”
