Kanpai Records Releases Los Angeles, CA – Domo Music Group’s new label, Kanpai Records is pleased to release Reinterpretations a new album featuring remixes of the legendary Japanese composer/musician Kitaro. This beautiful collection of timeless Kitaro songs reinterpreted by some of today’s most talented electronic artists is set for release on October 12, 2004. It could be said that Kitaro’s music is wordless poetry. The GRAMMY® and Golden Globe-winning composer and multi-instrumentalist has won global acclaim with a signature sound that seamlessly marries the age-old and the space age, earthly splendor and the ephemeral. “We have music so we can feel the Universe,” he has said, and, over the course of his extraordinary, more than three-decades-long career, millions have done exactly that through experiencing his exquisitely realized sonic artistry. Truly a unique album, Reinterpretations features twelve remixed Kitaro songs, most of which were on his 2003 release The Sacred Journey of Ku-kai (Domo). The eight different remixers including Turbotito (Junior Senior) and Timmy the Terror (Ima Robot), each deftly captures the essence of Kitaro, while lending the original compositions new dimensions filtered through their individual artistry. Not your standard "remixes", the tracks featured on Reinterpretations are unique, individual reinterpretations of Kitaro’s vision - "to create music that unites, heals, and soothes the human spirit." Remix Producers:
Audiomoe (aka Moses Truzman) is an LA based DJ and producer.

Stephen runs RADIO Records and throws RADIO events in LA, NY, and Berlin. Kitaro’s music is renowned as well for its messages of peace and spirituality, both in a collective sense, and as directed to the heart & soul of each individual listener. This lifelong expression of the artist’s prayers for harmony reaches new heights with his latest work, 2003’s Sacred Journey Of Ku-kai. The disc represents the launch of what will be a series of eight or nine overtly peace-themed albums to be released by Domo Records, Kitaro’s longtime label. The title references the classic Buddhist pilgrimage to the 88 sacred temples on Japan’s remote Shikoku Island, a route originally traveled by the beloved Buddhist monk Ku-kai over a millennium ago. Kitaro is following his path today, and each track on every album will revolve around the distinctive bell sound of one of the holy sites, using both actual sampling of the bells and Kitaro’s elegant interpretations of them, beginning with the first twelve on Sacred Journey Of Ku-kai. At this years 8th annual globally celebrated Earthdance on September 18, 2004 Kitaro will be honored and receive the first annual “Artist of Peace Award." Called “the Live Aid for the new millennium,” this 24-hour international celebration is the world’s largest synchronized music and dance event, bringing together people in more than 120 cities and 50 countries. Legendary composer Kitaro will be presented with the award at the Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Earthdance event. Established in 1994, Los Angeles-based Domo Music Group, is guided by founder Eiichi Naito's mission, "To provide a home for both the creators and aficionados of quality music beyond the borders of categorization.” Staying true to this mission, this fall Domo is launching its new imprint, Kanpai Records. This new label will focus on electronic and indie rock hybrids - plus everything in between. "We want to put out music that encompasses the best of all worlds… nothing too genre specific, but rather the gray space in between," says Michelle Ogata, Kanpai's Marketing Director & General Manager. Kanpai’s first three albums are due for release in Fall 2004 and include Reinterpretations, Unconscious Ruckusby Appogee, Filters by Peas. www.kanpairecords.com # # # For more information, please contact Lynn Hasty at Green Galactic at 323-466-5141 or lynn@greengalactic.com. |
